All of this is under a dome that is used as a projection surface, and this in turn is within a 112m high spherical façade that provides 53,900 m² of exterior LED surface. “The Sphere” in Las Vegas is set to be the most spectacular new opening of 2023. The experiences offered to the audience will not only be spectacular on the 10,000 immersive seats. This architecture is only partially suitable for sports, but some formats that take place in a small area are conceivable and will certainly be implemented in the course of time. The Summer League of the NBA 2023 will make its debut, whereby the players will have to get used to the fact that the audience is only seated on one side of the court, but up to a height that would be unthinkable in any conventional arena. Boxing could also offer a unique constellation with a dense atmosphere, and eSports is also already being considered. For the time being, we cannot include the dome construction in our lists as a sports venue. But this groundbreaking and inspiring project must of course be included wherever there is talk of innovations in media and event technology around sports and event venues. The Sphere is still a singular event. But it could offer extremely interesting approaches for new venues in the coming years.
