Display manufacturer equips Australian stadiums

Daktronics has partnered with ACT Government’s Venues Canberra, a group managing both GIO Stadium and Manuka Oval in Canberra, Australia, for LED video displays to deliver excitement and information at the venues.

“The game-day experience for our patrons is significantly enhanced with the new LED video displays at Manuka Oval and GIO Stadium Canberra,” said Executive Branch Manager for Venues Canberra Matt Elkins. “We’re now well into the footy season with Brumbies, Raiders and GWS Giants fans benefiting from the live game information.”

Located at the northern end of each venue, the new video displays measure 7.68 meters high by 19.75 meters wide (25 feet by 65 feet) at Gio Stadium and 8.76 meters high by 20.8 meters wide (29 feet by 68 feet) at Manuka Oval. They feature a 15HD pixel layout to deliver excellent image clarity and contrast while also incorporating industry-leading environmental protection to ensure each operates as expected in the Australian outdoors. The installation was completed by Kydan Pty. Ltd. earlier this year and has been activated to entertain audiences at the largest outdoor entertainment venues in Canberra, the capital of Australia.

Including custom Daktronics control systems, the displays are capable of variable content zoning. This allows each to show one large image or to display multiple zones of digital content including live video, instant replays, statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“These stadiums are delivering an amazing fan experience using Daktronics LED technology and control systems for a dynamic presentation,” said Matthew Hanna, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re extremely excited to have partnered with Venues Canberra for the LED upgrades to these already fantastic live event venues.”

Daktronics has grown with the sports industry from the company’s beginnings in 1968. Today, the company has LED video display installations in more than 80 countries around the world, including the Great Southern Screen at Accor Stadium, the largest video scoreboard in the southern hemisphere.
