NFL: New heated seats for games in Munich and Frankfurt

The expert for individual seat heating systems Moonich are currently working on twelve heated benches with a total of 108 seats for the first German game of the National Football League (NFL) on November 13, 2022 in Munich.

Heated seats for all players are a requirement of the US professional league to prevent injuries and strains. In the USA, teams use gas-powered heating systems. For fire safety reasons, however, these are not permitted in Germany. The issue of sustainability also plays a role. That's why the Bavarian company is manufacturing benches especially for the NFL games in Munich and Frankfurt, whose upholstered seats and backrests are heated electrically.

Meanwhile, the aluminum rails for the benches, which are exactly 15 feet (4.57 meters) long, are piled up in the hall. One bench weighs 68 kilograms. The seat height and depth have been specially adjusted to the height and weight of the football players. They should be able to sit on the benches in such a way that their muscles are optimally kept warm. In addition, the benches must be comfortable, extremely stable and tilt-resistant, and at the same time mobile, weatherproof and corrosion-resistant so that they can be easily transported and stored in the stadiums.

Once the aluminum shell is complete, each bench receives three removable cushions with wired, heatable seat and back sections. They are made of anthracite-colored leatherette and are individually manufactured by the Dutch manufacturer Sit & Heat and delivered together with the heating technology to be mounted on the aluminum frames in the factory in Sauerlach.
From November 10 onwards, they will be assembled in the Allianz Arena in Munich. Three benches each will be placed to the left and right of the 50-yard line, and the same set-up will take place on the opposite straight. With energy costs of around two cents per heated seat (with seat and backrest) and hour, they also meet current sustainability and energy-saving requirements.

"We are very excited about this very special order," says Lars Keussen, CEO of Moonich. "It's a great honor for us to help ensure that the National Football League's players and coaches have first-class stadium conditions." (STADIAWORLD, 27.10.2022)
