A few days ago Wolfsburg AG awarded STRABAG Sportstättenbau GmbH, Dortmund, and the Ed. Züblin AG, Business Unit Lower Saxony, and contract for construction of a new stadium, including external facilities and training grounds, as well as the VfL Centre and the World of Discoveries.

The VfL national league women’s football team who as triple champion in 2013 have made club history, and the U23 team of VfL Wolfsburg will get a new home ground meeting state-of-the-art requirements. While Züblin carries out all building and civil engineering works, STRABAG Sportstättenbau is responsible for all sports and external facilities. At approximately 24 million Euros, the contract sum has been agreed as a guaranteed maximum price (GMP).

Construction work is scheduled to cover a period of 13 months so that the stadium can be handed over in July 2014 prior to the start of the football season. The stadium will be erected using precast concrete elements and, in its basic outfitting, designed for approximately 5,200 spectators. The championship fields and training grounds will be equipped with TV compatible flood light systems and an ultra-modern turf heating system.

In addition to the fitness and massage area, diagnosis, therapy and regeneration facilities, as well as dressing rooms for the professionals, the VfL Centre will also accommodate conference rooms and offices. The multimedia World of Discoveries will offer fans, tourists and school classes interactive access to all kinds of information with regard to football. (Stadiaworld, 02.09.2013)
