Port San Antonio will get a new innovation center and technology arena. Together with ASM Global, they announced the upcoming project with a total investment of almost 51 million euros. Start of construction will be this October.
As one of the most versatile venues of ASM Globals 325+ portfolio, the San Antonio innovation center and technology arena will be a complex of more than 12,000m² in total. Furthermore, it will be the first of its kind in North America. The center is located in the nearly 7km² Port campus on the site of the former Kelly Field Air Force Base in San Antonio and one of the fastest-growing innovation destinations of the country.
With overall more than 80 tenants customers which employ 14,000+ people, the Port San Antonio is one of the largest technology and innovation campus. Bob Newman, President and CEO of ASM Global, is looking forward to the project and says that they desire to turn the campus into a hub of innovation. The highlight of the new project will be a 2,500-seat, multi-purpose technology arena which can be used for world-class esports events, concerts, conventions, special events, and more. It also becomes the new home of the San Antonio Museum of Science & Technology and includes a 24-hour LAN Gaming Center. But that’s not all: There will be a Full-Scale Food Hall for hospitality services and catering as well as daily culinary options for all the employees. Last but not least, the new project includes a High-Tech Research and Develoment Lab.
