Paris 2024 aims for a circular economy
Sustainability in large sports events not only includes minimizing the carbon footprint but also ensuring the responsible use of resources. The organizers of Paris 2024 have embraced the principles of the circular economy.
The Paris 2024 Olympics aim to be as sustainable as possible, with one key aspect being the use of existing sports infrastructure and temporary facilities. Only three new sports venues were built for the Games— the Adidas Arena, the Site descalade du Bourget, and the Centre Aquatique. This strategy will also guide the use of resources for the event, with the goal of implementing a circular economy for materials.
