Pro-Athletes join sports flooring marketing team

As a global leader in sports flooring development and production, CONICA continuously strives to understand the diverse needs of athletes. To further achieve that goal, the Switzerland-based company is incorporating athletic expertise internally. Recently, Marybeth Sant-Price, an American record-holding track and field sprinter, and Sylvia Schulz, a German 400m hurdles athlete who represented the German national team at the World Athletics Championship U20, have been welcomed to the team.

Sant-Price joined CONICA’s U.S. distributor, Polysport, in the marketing team on December 1st, 2023, while Schulz joined the CONICA Global Marketing Team on January 8th.

“Since 1977, CONICA has been on a mission to deliver the very best foundation for athletes all over the world so that they can excel in their abilities,” said Julio Fernando Fadel, head of global marketing and communications. “Welcoming Sylvie and Marybeth to our team allows us to tap into their athletic knowledge as well as their marketing talents to help us fully immerse ourselves in the sports culture in a proactive effort to continue that mission.”

Sant-Price, from Denver, graduated in 2019 from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and media. An All-American on the college’s track and field team, she achieved status as a Division 1 athlete, the highest level of college athletics according to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). She was also an All-American and national champion for the University of Oregon from 2013 to 2017.

In 2021, Sant-Price was an Olympic trials qualifier, winning a bronze medal in 2022 during the 60-meter sprint at the World Indoor Championships in Serbia. In the same year, she secured a silver medal in the same event at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Spokane, Washington. In 2023, she again won silver in the 60-meter during the USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she set a personal best of 7.04 seconds.

“I am thrilled to join CONICA where I will have an opportunity to combine my passion for athletics with my strong interests in marketing,” Sant-Price said. “I look forward to bringing my experience in public relations, writing, and media studies to a world-class company that is dedicated to the betterment of athletes everywhere.”

Sylvia, originally from Namibia, pursued her track career in Germany before attending Texas Tech University in the United States, where she graduated with a degree in Sports Management and Creative Media Industries in 2023. She competed for Germany on the national and international stage from 2016 to 2019. Her standout performance at the German U20 Championships in 2018 led to her representing Germany at the U20 World Championships in Finland.

Acknowledging her athletic prowess, Sylvia received a scholarship to study in the United States, showcasing her dedication to the sport and the recognition of her potential by institutions abroad. During her time at Texas Tech University, Schulz continued to shine. In her senior year, she secured the Big 12 Championships title, highlighting her commitment to excellence on the track. Not only excelling in sports, but Schulz also earned a spot on the President’s Honors List multiple times, showcasing her academic achievements.

From her success at the German U20 Championships to triumphs at the Big 12 Championships and academic excellence, Sylvie’s journey reflects a remarkable commitment to both athletic and academic pursuits, laying the foundation for a promising future in her chosen fields.

Sylvia Schulz added, “Being part of CONICA is an exciting opportunity for me to merge my love for sports with my enthusiasm for marketing. I am eager to contribute my skills to a company that shares my commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of sports.”

“The move to hire both Marybeth and Sylvia is part of the #CONICAAthletes initiative, which seeks to cultivate collaborations between athletes and the company. “This concept shows our commitment to supporting athletes in their professional careers while emphasizing CONICA’s quest to move forward with people who have the same drive and mindset in quality track products,” Fadel said. “With the addition of Sylvia and Marybeth, I do not doubt that we will see great things in the future for CONICA.” (Stadiaworld, 05.02.2024)
