The Turn- und Sportfördergesellschaft mbh has used technology from GLP German Lights Products for the lighting design of the `Feuerwerk der Turnkunst`. This ensures a high standard of lighting technology during the tour.
The Turn- und Sportfördergesellschaft mbH, a subsidiary of the Niedersächsischer Turner-Bund e.V., has been celebrating its top-class sport for 34 years with Europe`s most successful gymnastics show, the ‘Feuerwerk der Turnkunst’, and at the same time attracts attention and committed young talent. From the end of December 2023 to the end of January 2024, the organiser staged the `Heartbeat` tour, a passionate homage to the legendary dance films of the 80s: Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, Hair. The tour comprised 36 performances in 22 German cities. Over 200,000 visitors came to see the energetic gymnastics and artistic show. PRG provided the complete lighting, sound and video technology as well as rigging for the tour and realised all special constructions and technical planning.
The aim of the co-operation on the tour was to create optimum lighting conditions for artists and spectators.

Marc Brunkhardt`s lighting design relied on GLP impression X5 Compact and impression X4 Bar 20 to illuminate the playing area for the artists, performers and gymnasts evenly and in a sporty manner. It was particularly important not to dazzle the athletes during their usually very demanding performances. The PRG team used a total of 44 impression X5 Compact fixtures, the smallest yet most powerful member of GLP`s latest X5 series, to fulfil various lighting tasks. Firstly, a total of 16 X5 Compacts were used in the rig in groups of four in a follow-me system as chasers. A further 20 X5 Compacts backlit the transparent LED strip.
Tom Kaczmarek, Account Manager PRG, says: “The impression X5 Compact with its compact design was the perfect lamp especially for the application behind the LED strip and also did a great job visually. We value the devices for their high performance despite their small form factor, their very low weight, their speed and the zoom of 3.5 to 60 degrees. Wherever space is an issue, we have the X5 Compact on our list.” A total of 300 impression X5 Compact units are currently available from PRG Germany.
One particular challenge was to avoid dazzling the artists and performers during their performances.

In addition to the X5 Compact, impression X4 Bar 20 was also installed behind the LED board. “Due to the suspension behind the board, the entire technology could not be seen by the spectators”, continues Kaczmarek. “Here, too, the compact dimensions of the bars were the decisive factor in our choice.” (Stadiaworld, 24.04.2024)
