New school sports hall for Lagrave

The 1,500 m2 large school sports hall in the French city Lagrave was opened this summer. The considerations for the construction of the sports facility included the type of roofing material and questions for temperature control and costs. The contract was awarded to SMC2.

The textile construction technology offers a resource-saving and cost-effective solution for an aesthetical sports hall with high comfort. The materials used are renewable, with a low ecological footprint: recyclable steel, wood from sustainably managed forests, 100% recyclable fabric membrane, etc.

Even otherwise textile building conserves the resources: SMC2 sports halls require no additional lighting during the day, as the daylight is diffused through the membrane. Also for the temperature control, air conditioners or heaters are unnecessary, because the membrane prevents overheating or cooling. Thus, - according to the company – the operating costs are lower as in a traditional sports hall.

SMC2 will be exhibiting at the 5th Symposium and sports facility Exhibition SPORTINFRA in Frankfurt on 12 and 13 November (Booth 28). (Stadionwelt, 06.11.2014)
