New sports hall in the Southern French city Trets

In the Southern French city of Trets the specialists from SMC2 built a sports hall for a school. The hall has grandstands with a total of 280 seats. A natural light is generated in the interior because of the transparent membrane roof.

The temperature is regulated with no air conditioning but only by the double-flow ventilation. There is also the possibility of natural ventilation. SMC2 sports hall can provide a comfortable environment in which to play throughout the year.

The white translucent tensile membrane roof has a low thermal heat capacity. In summer it reflects excess energy from the sun and minimises solar gain thus preventing overheating. In winter, fully automated equipment monitors the dew point temperature and relative humidity of the air within the hall and the combined dehumidification and air handling plant maintain the internal environment in a condition whereby physically active users do not feel cold.

SMC2 will be exhibiting at the 5th Symposium and sports facility Exhibition SPORTINFRA in Frankfurt on 12 and 13 November (Booth 28). (Stadionwelt, 30.10.2014)
