Italian government wants to boost stadium projects
The Italian government is planning to issue a sports decree in May 2025 to kick-start the construction of new stadiums and the modernisation of old ones. Already planned investments totalling 5 billion euros are to be unblocked.
The Italian stadium landscape is largely dilapidated and run-down. Solutions to the massive investment backlog have been discussed for many years. After the clubs decided against the involvement of an external investor a few years ago, tax reliefs for stadium projects were discussed at the end of the year. Now a new sports decree could provide a remedy.
