IG Arena scheduled to begin operations in July
The IG Arena in Nagoya will celebrate its grand opening on 13th July 2025, with the traditional Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament. In the new high-tech arena, up to 17,000 spectators will experience 15 days of sports and Japanese culture.
Located in Aichi Prefecture near Nagoya, the IG Arena is considered one of the largest and most modern sports and event halls in Japan. It will officially open its doors on 13th July, 2025, inaugurated by the renowned Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, also known as the Nagoya Basho. With a capacity of up to 17,000 spectators, the multifunctional arena impresses with its hybrid oval design, allowing for flexible configurations for sports and entertainment events. The arena was officially opened in May 2025 during a soft opening, when Hans Zimmer performed a live concert.
The facade of the IG Arena combines modern structures with traditional elements, symbolizing a harmonious blend of innovation and culture. The distinctive hybrid oval design creates an inviting atmosphere while ensuring optimal sightlines from every seat.
Managed by AEG, the IG Arena expands their portfolio to over 100 venues and strengthens their presence in the Asia-Pacific region. AEG’s commitment aims to further develop Japan’s live entertainment landscape through visionary infrastructure projects.
After the opening in July 2025, the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament will be the first major event held in the arena—lasting a total of 15 days. In addition, the IG Arena will serve as a venue for international concerts, sports tournaments, and major events, setting new standards for live experiences in the region.
