Climate Pledge Arena: An Arena as a Promise
The Climate Pledge Arena is scheduled for completion in October and will serve as home to the Seattle Kraken – the newest member of the National Hockey League. The operators have set extremely ambitious goals.
The National Hockey League (NHL), North America’s professional ice hockey league, has undergone several rounds of expansion as well as organizational changes during its long history to reach its current status. For the time being, 31 teams are playing in the league – twenty-four are from the United States, seven from the neighbour country Canada. Basically, the league can be seen as an economic system that has steadily been growing and is constantly in flow. Requiring the approval of the NHL Board of Governors, the field of participants expands regularly. In simplified terms, the essential ingredients for a franchise are financial potency and a home venue. Newcomers even get to pick certain players from the competition in order to shape their own team.
