Emirates Stadium: Standstill is a foreign word
For 15 years, the Emirates Stadium has been the home of the English Premier League club Arsenal. The Gunners have managed to operate sustainably while focusing on economic efficiency at the same time.
From 1913, Arsenal Football Club played at Arsenal Stadium, widely known as Highbury. The legendary stadium, which at its peak could accommodate up to 73,000 spectators, had to be significantly reduced in size in the 1990s due to the ban on standing terraces, leaving space for only 38,419 fans for the Gunners’ home games. Matchday revenues suddenly dropped for the club, while teams like Manchester United were able to significantly increase their revenues in this area after expanding their stadium.
