Philips Stadion: Traditionally innovative
The Philips Stadion has been the home of the PSV Eindhoven for more than 100 years. Nevertheless, even today it operates on the highest level and is known for providing room for innovations to unfold.
The Philips group was founded in 1891 in Eindhoven for the manufacture of incandescent bulbs and is today a global player in health technology and domestic appliances. From the start, the company focussed on the sporting activities of its employees. To offer a space for this in 1913 the company provided the grounds that now house the Philips Stadion. In the same year, the employees competed for the first time in the official league as a works team. In 1916 the first stand was built on the sports ground, another one in 1933 that was /roofed. In 1938 a scoreboard with a clock was installed which was an absolute novelty back then. However, this wasn’t the last time that the venue in Noord-Brabant was a trailblazer.
