Barclays Arena: A fresh breeze in Hamburg

Barclays Arena implements shared concepts and strategies of the AEG Entertainment Group, while also executing unique, individual initiatives. Recently, a series of infrastructure updates took place.

Opened in late 2002, the Hamburg arena, now known as the Barclays Arena, was one of the first major multi-purpose arenas of its kind in Germany. In October 2007, it was acquired by the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and integrated into its extensive portfolio. Thus, it became part of AEG Europe but is also involved in the company's global strategies. "We are part of an international network with which we regularly exchange ideas. This allows us to support each other in areas such as global partnerships, digital media, modernization measures, constantly evolving safety regulations, and sustainability topics (AEG Sustainability)," says Steve Schwenkglenks, who has been managing director in Hamburg since 2019, succeeding Uwe Frommhold.
