UK Government Plans Regulation of Ticket Resale
The UK government intends to prohibit the resale of tickets above their original price and will require platforms to enforce price caps and stricter oversight. Football and seat licences are subject to special provisions.
The UK Department for Business and Trade and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport have announced measures under which tickets for concerts, theatre, comedy, sport and other live events may no longer be resold above their original price. The original price is defined as the face value of the ticket plus any “unavoidable” charges such as service fees.
