Chicago Fire FC Breaks Ground on New Stadium
MLS franchise Chicago Fire is advancing with their plans for their own, soccer-first, stadium. After moving back to Soldier Field in 2020, the club has now broken ground on a new facility in the South Loop of Chicago.
The Fire’s new home could become the city’s first new stadium in over 30 years. Ideas included a roof for the stadium, transforming it into a dome, or, as the Chicago Bears had proposed in 2024, tearing down the venerable venue and replacing it with a modern new building. First renderings for this had also been revealed. The Chicago Fire announced their own stadium plans in the beginning of June 2025, two weeks later, the initial plans were presented to the public and concept images published. On March 2, 2026, the major project celebrated its construction start.
