Sustainability, digitisation and events galore: The Allianz Arena is a figurehead of the German venue landscape — in 2020 the stadium celebrated its 15-year anniversary. A portrait of the German football record champion’s home.
At a press conference in February 2002 big milestones on the path to the new Munich stadium were announced: Two architect drafts had made it to the final elimination, the “rubber dinghy” by Herzog & de Meuron was given preference over the “crown of thorns” by gmp. The FC Bayern and the TSV 1860 as shareholders of the Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH, the builder and future operating company at the time were paving the way for a new landmark in Munich.
