All set for new NYCFC Stadium

In New York the city's first football stadium is about to be built. The new home of New York City FC with space for 25,000 spectators is projected to open by 2027. The construction is part of the Willets Point neighborhood revitalization project.

The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, City Councilman Francisco Moya, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and New York City Football Club (NYCFC) officially laid the foundation for Etihad Park on 4 December 2024. It will be the first stadium in New York City designed specifically for football operations and the first fully electric stadium in the history of Major League Soccer (MLS). In addition to the stadium, which is scheduled to be ready for the 2027 season, the entire construction project also includes retail space, catering facilities, office space and City Square, a space for community events and uses. The stadium is part of the Willets Point redevelopment, a major urban development project led by Mayor Adams, which also includes the construction of 2,500 affordable homes.
