Enhanced Audio Experience for Sports Fans in Toulouse
Toulouse is home to the Palais des Sports André Brouat - a multi-purpose arena with 4,400 seats, which is mainly used for volleyball and handball matches. The spectators benefit from a NEXO system for the sound.
As part of a sound system upgrade, the venue's operators commissioned a Toulouse-based acoustic consultancy to evaluate three possible solutions: a distributed point source system, line array clusters projecting sound from the center of the arena, or clusters installed beneath the circular walkway above the stands.
As the latter option proved to be the most suitable, local AV technology and production service provider Novelty Occitanie was awarded the contract for system design and installation. The company opted for a NEXO GEO M10 system.
Eight clusters, each consisting of seven GEO M10 speakers, were installed beneath the circular walkway, complemented by pairs of NEXO L15 subwoofers for low-frequency extension. Additionally, two racks on the walkway house three NEXO NXAMP4X2Mk2 amplifiers each, providing amplification and signal processing. Control is managed via iPads using the NEXO NeMo app for monitoring and adjustment. The original sound system has been retained as a backup.
Throughout the entire tender process, the Novelty Occitanie team worked closely with NEXO's Engineering Support, which was also on-site in February for the final tuning and commissioning of the system.
“Novelty Ocitanie did a great job installing the system” reports Melvin Frerot from the NEXO ES team. “Fine tuning went flawlessly with very good STI measurements. In fact, the game announcer was present at the commissioning and was very happy with the results.” (stadiaworld, 03.04.2025)
