British government passes ‘Martyn's Law’
In order to increase security at public venues and events, the United Kingdom has passed a law that defines the procedure in the event of a terrorist attack and determines further security measures for venues all over the country.
Since March 2017, there have been 15 terrorist attacks within the UK (excluding terrorism linked to Northern Ireland), according to counter-terrorism estimates. The security services and law enforcement agencies were also able to disrupt a combined 43 attacks that were already in the late stages of planning. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn's Law, is a government response to the rising number of terrorist attacks in recent years.
