London on the way to becoming the world sports capital?

A report published by London City Hall provides insights into the economic impact of selected major sporting events in the British capital from 2024. Even more events are set to take place in London in the future.

London's stadium landscape is second to none in Europe. With Wembley Stadium (capacity 90,000 spectators) and Twickenham Stadium (capacity 82,000 spectators), two of the five largest stadiums in Europe are located in the English capital. In addition, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the London Stadium and the Emirates Stadium can also accommodate over 60,000 spectators. Such a stadium infrastructure offers the city the opportunity to host many major sporting events - in 2024 alone there are said to have been over 50. Clear goals have also been formulated for the future: London wants to host even more major events in 2025 and consolidate its position as the “sports capital of the world”.
