New seats for Olympic Stadium

More than 22.000 new stadium seats for the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam have been supplied by the Spanish enterprise Daplast S.A. The seats are part of a major development programme for the famous sports venue. The project is estimated to be completed in 2012.

The Olympic Stadium Amsterdam has acquired an increasingly extensive and varied event calendar and has now high ambitions for the future. The stadiums’ facilities will be significantly improved in the coming years and the replacement of the grandstand seating is one of the key elements of the modernisation programme.

Daplast is currently replacing 22,000 seats at the venue. The project that is estimated to be completed in 2012 will be executed in stages in cooperation with the local distributor of sports equipment W+H Sports.

It is a challenging project due to the monumental status of the stadium, its current functionality and because of the altered requirements of international sports commissions. “The Olympic allure of the Stadium and its characteristic charisma will be retained, that is an important factor", explains Hans Lubberding, director of the Olympic Stadium.

"Thanks to the intensive cooperation and the professional input of both Daplast and W&H Sports, we have succeeded in formulating a plan which meets the strict safety norms and can also be executed with optimal efficiency," Lubberding compliments the two companies and justifies: "Our visitors will hardly be bothered by the works and will soon be able to enjoy the new, comfortable seating.” (Stadiaworld, 01.06.2011)
