Brisbane 2032: Delivery Plan and Financing finalised
Another key milestone has been reached for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games: the 2032 Delivery Plan has been adopted and funding for the Games Venue Infrastructure Programme has been secured. The Australian federal government is providing 3.435 billion AUD (approx. 1.92 bn EUR / 1.66 bn GBP / 2.27 bn USD) towards the overall infrastructure budget of 7.1 billion AUD, which includes the development of new and upgraded venues.
The Queensland Government has also allocated 847 million AUD in its 2025 state budget to commence work on initial venues. In total, 17 new and upgraded venues are planned across Queensland, including the new main stadium at Victoria Park and the National Aquatic Centre.

Brisbane is in the midst of preparations for the 2032 Olympic Games. Following the “100-day review”, the government presented its venue plans for the major event at the end of March. stadiaworld presents the recommendations.
With the Delivery Plan now in place, the implementation phase begins. Interested companies can now submit bids for project planning and construction. Initial expressions of interest for Principal Design Consultants have already been released, covering new indoor sports centres in Moreton Bay and Logan as well as stadium upgrades at Sunshine Coast Stadium and Barlow Park Stadium in Cairns.
The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is responsible for coordinating procurement, which will follow the ‘Buy Queensland’ approach. The aim is to involve local businesses throughout the planning and construction process and to create long-term infrastructure benefits for the regions. (stadiaworld, 16.07.2025)
