Environmental award for granulate manufacturer
GEZOLAN AG has been awarded the silver medal by the rating platform EcoVadis for its sustainability performance. With a score of 69 out of 100 points, GEZOLAN ranks among the top 15 percent worldwide in terms of sustainability.
EcoVadis is an independent platform that analyzes the sustainability performance of over 150,000 companies worldwide every year. Based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact and ISO 26000, EcoVadis offers an independent and transparent assessment of companies' sus-tainability performance. An assessment by EcoVadis is one of the most recognized awards for a company's sus-tainability, is carried out on a voluntary basis. The four key areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement are evaluated using scores from 0-100 points. Based on these scores, an overall score is then determined and medals are awarded in bronze, silver, gold and platinum. A good rating from EcoVa-dis thus shows that a company not only claims to be sustainable, but also demonstrably implements it.
For GEZOLAN, sustainability is a relevant factor on several levels. With its products, such as the first sustainable EPDM granules GEZOFLEX eco, the company actively contributes to making sustainable sports and leisure floor-ings possible. It was therefore logical for GEZOLAN to undergo the voluntary sustainability assessment by EcoVa-dis. In the initial assessment of GEZOLAN by EcoVadis, the Swiss company achieved a strong overall result with 69 out of a possible 100 points. The resulting EcoVadis silver medal puts the Swiss company in the top 15 percent of all companies assessed worldwide. Looking only at companies in the same sector, it is clear that GEZOLAN is also one of the top performers in a sector comparison and is above the average results of other companies in the sector.
"As the quality leader, we see it as our responsibility, together with our business partners, to set sustainable impulses in the field of sports and leisure flooring. We are therefore proud that our continuous efforts in the area of sustainability have been recognized with the EcoVadis silver medal. The excellent result in the EcoVadis rating in our initial assessment confirms our commitment to responsible, sustainable business and is also moti-vation to further expand our activities in this area," commented Michael Karpe, CEO of GEZOLAN, on the award.
GEZOLAN AG shows particular strengths in the areas of the environment and labor and human rights, where a high score was achieved through the active implementation of various measures, such as regular energy and CO2 audits or employee training on environmental, health and occupational safety issues. However, the EcoVadis assessment process not only reveals internal strengths, but also existing potential for optimization in sustainability management - ideal for continuous improvement. "Of course, we now have the ambition and also the responsibility to continuously improve," Michael Karpe continues.
The award of the EcoVadis silver medal underlines the fact that GEZOLAN is not only committed to sustainability at product level, but also holistically. Further evidence of the company's holistic sustainable approach includes accreditation in accordance with ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System, the sustainability report, which the company has been producing voluntarily since 2020, and voluntary participation in the Energy Effi-ciency Program of the Swiss Private Sector Energy Agency. GEZOLAN has also been reporting its corporate carbon footprint and product carbon footprint since the beginning of 2025.
With the EcoVadis silver medal, GEZOLAN confirms that the company already assumes a strong responsibility towards the environment, society and ethical behavior - while at the same time continuously working on im-provements. (stadiaworld, 21.07.2025)
