A New Dawn for Italy’s Stadium Landscape?

In Milan, progress finally seems to have been made regarding the sale of San Siro to the two city clubs – after all, UEFA EURO 2032 is getting ever closer. Even aside from the potential tournament venues, a great deal is happening in Italy’s stadium landscape. stadiaworld provides an overview of the current projects.

The Italian football community is likely already looking forward to the UEFA EURO taking place in summer 2032, with Italy acting as co-host alongside Turkey. Although UEFA awarded the hosting rights for the tournament in October 2023, much of the Italian stadium infrastructure currently does not meet modern requirements. No significant, nationwide modernisation of Italian stadiums has been carried out since the 1990 FIFA World Cup, which was the last international football tournament on Italian soil (with the exception of matches staged as part of the pan-European UEFA EURO 2020 tournament). This is a situation set to change in the coming years. The driving force behind this is undoubtedly the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2032. However, even apart from the ambitions surrounding hosting EURO matches, Italian clubs and municipalities are currently taking action on the subject of stadiums. stadiaworld provides an overview of selected projects.
