Seattle Kraken Acquire Majority Stake in Arena

NHL’s Seattle Kraken ownership group has unveiled “One Roof Sports & Entertainment”, a new parent company consolidating its portfolio and taking majority control of Climate Pledge Arena as part of a broader growth and expansion strategy.

Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, opened in October 2021 and is home to the 32nd franchise of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Seattle Kraken, the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and the PWHL’s Seattle Torrent. It is also a global music venue hosting over 60 major concerts annually, and the only arena in North America that is home to two professional women’s teams. Now the ownership structure of the arena is changing.

The ownership group of the Seattle Kraken, led by Samantha Holloway, on March 23 announced the launch of One Roof Sports and Entertainment to oversee a growing portfolio of properties and fuel new opportunities.

In addition, Holloway announced that One Roof Sports and Entertainment and Oak View Group (OVG) have entered into an agreement on a pre-planned ownership transition designed to enable the pursuit of future opportunities. One Roof Sports and Entertainment will become the majority owner of Climate Pledge Arena, and OVG, still maintaining a significant minority stake, will continue its role in booking and operating the venue under a long-term agreement.

One Roof Sports and Entertainment will serve as the umbrella brand for:

  • Seattle Kraken
  • Climate Pledge Arena
  • One Roof Foundation
  • Kraken Community Iceplex
  • The partnership with the City of Seattle and Seattle Public schools to redevelop the New Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center
  • And represent the enterprise’s interest in the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds and Acrisure Arena

“We’re committed to this community, and this parent brand brings together everything we’ve done, from a privately financed arena to the Seattle Kraken,” said Samantha Holloway. “Increasing our ownership in Climate Pledge Arena allows us to consolidate operations and sets us up for future opportunities. OVG is an amazing partner, and I am pleased that they will continue to operate the facility for many years to come.”

“We are incredibly proud of Climate Pledge Arena and our ongoing partnership with the Seattle Kraken and One Roof Sports and Entertainment,” said Chris Granger, CEO of OVG. “We are inspired by Samantha’s vision and together we look forward to serving fans, artists and the Seattle community far into the future.”

Current Seattle Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke will also lead One Roof Sports & Entertainment, supported by his executive team. “This organization has done brilliant work, giving life to dreams that have shaped our region,” said Leiweke. “We are not done yet. Inspired by our fans and partners, we believe our best days are in front of us.” (stadiaworld, 25.03.2026)
